Finding gaps in the rain

Started by: tomplum (12498)

Its still too wet for any form of gardening or cycling so today, I put my rain mac on and had a walk, As I was passing the Saly Army shop in Bryn I went in for a nosy, Jeez, Its supposed to be a Charity shop but, they are asking high prices for goods, Its more like a ' Second hand shop' that we used to see years ago, They have furniture in at a cost that you can get cheaper in B+M Brand new, they are taking the Mick Royal, The goods on sale are donated and the staff work for nowt so, Someone's making proper money under the pretence of helping others,

Tom all of the charity shops are getting the same there should be a system where you should be able to offer a price for an item and has long as it is a realistic price then it should be accepted. That is what charity shops where set up for to let people to buy items they can afford and to put money into the charities pockets. I have said before Charities are a multi billion pound industry

Tomplum said, "The goods on sale are donated and the staff work for nowt "

But, Tom, only the rubbing-rags work for nowt.
The managers and the directors are drawing top salaries from the charity shops.

Yes. Although not as good as a gas mig or tig, they do the job. The wire has a flux core so you don’t need the inert gas.
I wouldn’t imagine any ‘professional’ using one though.
Or a ‘real’ welder, like bent legs!

Sadly, charity shops have now become far too expensive. I used to enjoy having a toot round them, and very often I'd buy almost brand new clothes from them, some still with the original price tag.

I once bought two beautiful blouses that had price tags on of £80 each, and I got them for just £2 apiece. At times, they'd even have a sale and mark things down to 50p apiece.

I also bought two ceramic wall plaques which originally adorned walls in the 1940s/50s and are in relief, for just a couple of quid each - probably worth more - but many members of charity shop staff are unaware of their true value.

Unfortunately, the directors and above are now using these outlets as a money making scam, very little of which actually goes to the charities, but lines the pockets of those at the top end of the organisation.

Not a charity, but anyone remember Delmo Autospares, they were car scrapers, just off Chapel Lane near to where The Range is now, but the second hand spares they sold were dearer than main dealer new part prices.

We have become a nation of paper shuffling , buy and sell blood suckers because, We no longer produce anything, No more PROPER jobs are available for the bread winner so, buy and sell or rob and the best paid job in town now is Drug dealing, average £5000 a day, fast cars , lethal weapons supplied and regular 2 years holidays at the Kings pleasure, no qualifications required, immediate start , would suit good runner with ability to, not stand out at night,
